Still think it’s cool? Here’s what tobacco companies don’t tell you about cigarettes.
- Cigarette smoke has over 4,000 chemical compounds, including ammonia (toilet cleaner), arsenic (rat poison), butane (lighter fluid), and DDT (a type of pesticide). More than 40 of these can cause cancer.
- For every cigarette stick you smoke, you lose 10 minutes of your life. You also endanger the lives of innocent people around you.
- Smokers are more likely to lose their teeth. Those remaining are stained yellow with increased risk of getting plaque, which causes bad breath.
- Smoking dries the skin, decreases blood flow and nutrients to your skin, and causes premature aging. (Hello, wrinkles!)
- Women who smoke may have a hard time having a baby in the future. They are also more prone to reproductive diseases, such as cervical cancer.
- Second-hand smoke is six times more poisonous than mainstream smoke. So even if you don’t smoke, but you have friends and family who do, you are at a high risk of contracting asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, middle ear disease, lung cancer, and more.
- There is no safe level of cigarettes. Even if they are classified as light, mild, or menthol-flavored, they are all equally toxic!
- Just because you’re young, it doesn’t mean you’re invincible. According to the World Health Organization, “based on current trends, about 250 million children alive today will eventually be killed by tobacco.”
QUIT NOW!
Save yourself and your loved ones before it’s too late. Share this article and these tips with all the smokers you know!
If you smoke…
- Once you decide to stop, just stop. Throw away all the cigarettes, lighters, and ashtrays in the house!
- Tell everyone you know that you’re quitting so they can support you at your weak moments.
- Stay away from people, places, and situations that tempt you to smoke.
- Exercise or get into a sport. Engaging in a healthier lifestyle will encourage you to take care of your body.
- When you feel the urge to smoke, nibble on healthy snacks instead such as fruits and nuts. If it helps, use a nicotine patch or gum (but consult your doctor first!).
- You may feel withdrawal symptoms such as tingling sensations, difficulty in concentration, and coughing. This is normal. It’s your body’s way of purging the toxins from your system. After a few weeks, you’ll feel the benefits of quitting such as improved breathing, better ability to taste and smell, and increased energy!
- Join the anti-smoking revolution! Log on to www.quittersunite.com and nosmokingroom.org.
- If you don’t smoke…
- Don’t start! Cigarettes contain nicotine, a highly addictive drug. Once you get hooked, it will be hard to quit.
- If your friends are pressuring you, just say no and move away. It’s your body, and you decide whether or not you will allow poisonous substances into your system.
- Encourage your family and friends who smoke to stop. Tell them you care about them and inform them of the perils of smoking to their life, as well as yours.

To take care of myself not by being too much vain, but just enough for my future travels :)

Thanks to my dentist! :”> (Source: marielific)
Yesterday was a very depressing day. But today, I felt so glad. I forgot that I have my true friends beside me. That there were still people who cares about me more than I think. That feeling when someone wanted to help you to the best he/she can.
Thank you Lord for this day! Keep inspired tumblrmates :)
I’ve been busy in school and online business these past few days. But among the two, I really keep on thinking about school. I’m having a hard time thinking on my academic and extra curricular activities. Though I can manage engaging to both activities at the same time, it really makes me feel anxious because I’m not enrolled yet. It is because my enrollment is on-hold by our organization’s adviser. She’s not yet approved of the financial statement that I submitted to her many times. I am very patient of revising it many times because I know that it is my responsibility to provide and submit a financial statement for what we call transparency. But this afternoon, I chatted with one of my friend at school which is also an officer and knew about the fact that they are also not yet cleared with their financial statement for the second semester of the last school year BUT (yes, with a BIG B-U-T) their enrollment wasn’t hold by their organization’s adviser. She told me that all they have to do is to follow-up their financial statement. I am just quite wondering “why?” Why can’t it be like that? Something seems not right. There are some things that I can’t state here. But as of the moment, I’m thinking of leaving the organization if still unfair decisions will arise.
I love serving the studentry. But if this will be the exchange of my passion of serving my schoolmates, I guess its time to leave and serve the studentry in different way. (Source: marielific)
